A study and testing was performed  at the University of Georgia, Department of Food Science and Technology under the direction of Dr, Yen Con Hung on the patented  System developed by SANIST TECHNOLOGIES . The study was peer reviewed and published in the July 2016  /  Vol. 81 issue of the Journal of Food Science. The tests demonstrated the strong antimicrobial synergistic effect of germicidal UV light, activated oxygen and water. A series of tests demonstrated  the  ability to get into the folded leaves of iceberg and romaine lettuce, achieving a reduction of E. coli 0157:H7 by 99.999%.​
